Ovok is the second moon of Sarnus and is roughly egg-shaped. The moon orbits just out of Sarnus' ring system and is tidally locked to the gas giant. It is the Methone analog to the game.

In-Game Description[]

Ovok's characteristic smooth egg shape is caused by the tidal force exerted by Sarnus and Ovok's gravity. This has led scientists to believe that the moon must consist of an icy fluff, that easily contracts and expands, resulting in a landscape that is free of deep impact craters. The moon was named for Ovok, a mythological beast known for its soft fur and razor-like claws.

Physical Characteristics[]

At first glance, the oblong moon may look like an egg. The dramatic stretching is likely due to Sarnus' tidal force pulling on the moon - which can indicate a composition of something fairly soft and pliable.

The surface of Ovok reflects nearly all visible light, and the trailing surface absorbs large amounts of plasma in Sarnus' magnetosphere.

The density of the moon suggests a composition of pure water ice, and particles torn from the moon may contribute to the unique ring system around Sarnus' equator - which are also likely composed of ice and rock particles. This record low density also gives it the lowest surface gravity of any body in the game (Ovok's SOI is actually 94km, not 23km).

Biomes[]

Ovok only has 3 biomes.
